Compaq was a large and very popular computer manufacturer that began in 1982, headquartered in Harris County, TX. Compaq saw its greatest success in the 1990’s, becoming the largest supplier although it remained popular in the early 2000’s as well. During the 1990’s, Compaq had become the largest supplier of PC’s, and their success continued into the early 2000’s as well. In 2002, Compaq was acquired by HP which continued to sell PC’s under the Compaq brand for several more years. During its existence, Compaq sold computers like the Compaq Deskpro, the Compaq Portable, the Presario, and the server product called the SystemPro.
